Saturday, 24 August 2019 the 4th festival Freedom Picnic took place in Nemunas island, in the centre of Kaunas, second largest city of the country. Organized by iconic journalist and author Andrius Tapinas, this year the festival gathered an impressive crowd of 25,000 people from around Lithuania. This year’s Picnic’s motto was “The State Is Me”.
Well-known politicians and prominent representatives of the entertainment world discussed the most important issues for Lithuania during the Freedom Picnic discussions, and NGO’s presented their activities. Over 70 different organizations offered a lot of entertainment to Kaunas residents and city guests, finishing with performances by the most famous musical groups and the culmination of the evening – spectacular fireworks!
Among NGO’s there was seen Youth Line, Silver Line, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Hands of Kindness, who talked about the meaning of the activity and answered any questions they may have. Discussion spaces, entertainment and sports areas, playgrounds was open during a day. In the discussion space „For tomorrow’s youth“ psychologists of the country looked into a topic „Emotional health. How we feel and why we hide it. ?“ Jurgita Jurkutė – famous artist, TV presenter, public figure, one of those who suffered suicide by a loved one moderated discussions. She is a big supporter and cultural ambassador of the GG project SUPREME AIM.
